Photographic studio refresh completed.

After much hard work the photographic studio refresh has been completed.

We have spent a great deal of time and money refreshing the studio including adding flooring, curtains, new props and seating and generally making it a more comfortable place to be.

James Spencer Photography now a full member of the SWPP

James Spencer photography is now a full member of the SWPP (Society of Wedding and Portrait Photographers).
Therefore you can be assured that work undertaken by James is of a very high standard having been assessed by the SWPP and having passed the stringent entry criteria.

I am looking to work with the SWPP on my portfolio and wedding work to improve the service I offer to customers and to keep on learning via their various courses and seminars for members.

News update: Website hits and shoots this week

Last week (28/6 - 4/7) I had the most hits to my site since it went live with over 3,000 hits. This is great news and thanks to all visitors to the site.

I have 2 shoots this week before I go on holiday, one portrait shoot this evening and a portrait baby bump shoot on Wednesday, really looking forward to both. Results from these will be on the site soon. With the bump shoot I am trying to create silhouette images like this:

Prom shoot planning begins

In a couple of weeks I am doing a prom shoot in North Bristol for year 11 pupils who have completed their  exams. This is to be held at a nice country hotel and I plan on going there this weekend to plan where the best locations will be for the shoot. The initial thoughts include getting a complete year group picture of all the students outside the venue and then individual and groups of friends shots inside the venue near interesting areas. The trip to the venue this weekend will help me plan where I can setup and take the best pictures. I had thought about taking my vinyl backdrop system but think this might be tough especially as I am sure the vinyl wont like lots of high heels stepping all over it..:-)
There will be lots of limos arriving at the venue so I am told so no doubt we can get some nice images of the student groups arriving, such as this image below:
Until next time.

Studio taking shape

I am in the process of converting my double garage into a photographic studio and work continues on this. I hope to have this completed next week. Once finished the studio will have a large vinyl backdrop and have Bowens lighting in place ready for portrait work. I will continue to use outdoor locations and larger studios for larger shoots, but the home studio should be a great resource in helping me offer excellent photography services and to keep my costs down which I can then pass on to my customers. Once the studio is finished I will post images on the blog and on my website. So keep checking back for progress pics.

Evening Post and local website interest

Since I placed an advert this weekend just gone in the Evening Post, I have had a number of interesting calls and emails about providing portrait and wedding services, which is great. I have also placed adverts promoting my special offers on various local websites (Bradley Stoke Matters, MyThornbury and MyYate).

I will continue to promote my services in and around Bristol.

Sunday 23rd May Shoot

On Sunday I held an all day portrait shoot in the Coalpit Heath Miners club in Coalpit Heath in Bristol (http://cphvh.webs.com/). We had a number of portrait sessions booked in including the creation of a portfolio for a professional dancer, and some children and family portrait shots for several families. The day was a scorcher and I am so glad that the venue had air conditioning. It was the first time I had used my new vinyl backdrop which had arrived a few weeks back on a metal roll. Once installed on the backdrop setup it looked excellent and I was very pleased with it. The shoots went well and we also had the services of Ami our regular make up artist, she did a superb job and we will be using her services again soon for future shoots should she be available.
I am currently editing the images and will post them soon on my site (www.jesphotography.co.uk). Initial impressions look good.
Until next time
James
